He didn’t hear her

poetspeaking

He didn’t hear the screams

there must have been some thick insulation

or sound proof technology involved

because the stabbing pain of her own screams almost left her deaf

it was maddening inside that space

They should have put up padded walls

but it was too late

her fists were stained with bruises

and knuckle crevices were outlined in bloody tear drops

They say they don’t understand how he couldn’t hear her

It went on for hours according to the clock in the waiting room

maybe the glass wasn’t as clear as they had thought

perhaps he could only see his reflection

Until we went in there later… took a seat where he had

and waited

The wounds were under bandages now

and there were no tears

but the screams echoed in her eyes

He never heard her

because

she held it all inside
