Borrowed Lines of Love (NaPoWriMo 3/30)

Dorothy and Harry

“Love is not love
Which alters when it alteration finds”

It steady stays and mountains climb

“And for your love song tone their rumble down.
Take Harlem’s heartbeat,
Make a drumbeat,”

In city streets where nature meets

oddest situations

In the midst of this confusion

“Give all to love;
Obey thy heart;
Friends, kindred, days,
Estate, good fame,
Plans, credit, and the muse;
Nothing refuse.”

For love gives freely

without hope for compensation

it just is

great purpose

“I scarcely knew, by myself, that I existed

that I’d be able to be and go on being”

but love is reflections

from one soul to another

“if we are bold,

love strikes away the chains of fear
from our souls”.

imprisoned only when we choose

conscious or unconsciously

We are soldiers

“and It’s only love that” KEEPS “us free”

The Quoted parts above are from the following poems:

Shakespeare “Sonnet 116”

Langston Hughes “JukeBox Love Song”

Emerson “Give All To Love”

Pablo Neruda “Shyness”

Maya Angelou “Touched by an Angel”
